Patrick grew up in Center Grove.  He is a proud graduate of Center Grove High School, where he was a top 10 student and won his varsity letter as a tackle on the football team. 

After high school, Patrick attended the University of Notre Dame on an NROTC scholarship.  He participated in intramural boxing, witnessed the 1988 National Championship football season, and became President of the Notre Dame Class of 1990.  More importantly, Patrick met and later married his college sweetheart, Julia. 

Patrick and Julia still live in Center Grove.  They attend Mass at Saints Francis and Clare.  They are avid motorcyclists, golfers, roller coaster and board game enthusiasts.  Patrick and Julia have two daughters, both of whom are Center Grove graduates.  The oldest daughter is a student in the M.D./Ph.D. program at Indiana University.  The youngest daughter graduated with a degree in management at IUPUI.

Patrick attended the Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis.  He interned with Judge John Tinder at the Southern District of Indiana, the National Labor Relations Board, and the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.  He also conducted research for the Hudson Institute when it was still located in Indianapolis.

Patrick finished second in his class in law school and was a member of the Law Review.  He was also one of the two student representatives 
for the committee which designed and oversaw the construction of the current law school building. 

After graduating from law school, Mr. Olmstead worked for Thompson Coburn LLP in St. Louis, Missouri.  He started as a member of the Labor and Employment group.  Mr. Olmstead was then chosen to work with the Tobacco Litigation and Toxic Tort groups.  Mr. Olmstead was fortunate to work with some of the foremost litigators in the United States.     

Patrick then returned home to Indiana, and worked for Hoover Hull LLP, until opening Patrick Olmstead Law LLC.  At Hoover Hull, he handled a wide variety of litigation, including personal injury litigation, business disputes, legal malpractice defense, disciplinary responses, and insurance coverage issues. 

Patrick is actively involved in the Bar and the community.  He has served as a Director or Officer for the following organizations:  Notre Dame Class of 1990 (President); Notre Dame Club of Indianapolis, 2010-present (Director); St. Thomas More Society, 2011-present (President); Ethics Hotline for Indiana State Bar Association, 2006-present (Chair); Solo & Small Firm Section of the Indiana State Bar Association, 2006-present (Treasurer and Conference Planning Committee Member from 2007-2011); Wernle Youth & Family Treatment Center, 2009 – 2012 (Director and Compliance Chair); Veterans of Valor, 2007-2008 (Founding Member, Chairman of the Board and Vice President); Knights of Columbus (2001 – present) (Advocate for 2 councils from 2002-2005 and 2005-2008).
